Women feel good when they wear make-up, goes by the saying you look good when you feel good. They feel so much better and more confident having it on. Also, cosmetic products can hide at some point the real age of a woman. It helps an older woman to look younger and beautiful. Nowadays, if you are a female and you don't wear make-up, there are people's impression that you are not taking care of your appearance which undeniably one major factor on perceiving people.

A Study on People's Perception on Women Wearing Make-up
In a study financed by Procter and Gamble, researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston University and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute found that wearing make-up has a significant impact on people's perception on women.
They examined one example of extended phenotype or facial grooming; the use of color cosmetics or make-up which is used mainly to enhance facial attractiveness. Researchers showed subjects photos of women: wearing no make-up or wearing one of three different aesthetic looks

- professional
- glamorous
- First study involved 149 adults (61 men, 88 women): photos of women with different ages and ethnicities were first shown to participants for 250 milliseconds
- Second study involved 119 adults (30 males, 89 females): another set of subjects examined the same images for an unlimited period of time to look over each face carefully
Study Findings
Study objects assessed the women in the photos in terms of competence, likability, attractiveness and trustworthiness.
The researchers found that women with cosmetics in all different looks whose photos were shown very quickly were judged as more competent, likable, attractive and trustworthy. But when the images were shown to the subject for a longer period of time, different results were found. People saw them as evenly likable, competent and more attractive but less trustworthy.
The study findings is a clear message for women that cosmetics or wearing make-up has a significant impact on how people perceive women not only in physical attractiveness but also on characteristics and professional performance.
Previous studies also, have revealed that attractive women or people are expected to perform better on their work, in school and in life and they are treated better than those who aren't physically attractive.
